Pilot Name Biography Summary
E.H. "Bud" Miller Credited with four E/A destroyed, two of which were JU-88's, he is probably best known for his accomplishment as a "jet chaser". After downing one ME 262 in February of 1945, he then, with his flight, only flew on missions where 262's were anticipated to be in the air.....
Edward W. Miller "The luckiest flier in the AAF". Those were the words Lt. Edward W. Miller used to describe himself to a hometown newspaper reporter. He had flown 85 missions in his P-47, the "Ila A" and was hit on only 4 missions, making him the least hit pilot in the 493rd Fighter Squadron.
Marvin W. Miller He flew virtually every fighter aircraft from the P-40 through the mach2 F-4 and F-106, for a total of over 7,000 hours, practically all in single engine fighters. He did a tour of exchange duty with the US Navy and made over 100 carrier landings aboard the USS Midway, flying the F9F Panther. He completed 65 missions in Viet Nam flying the, F-1OO and F-102.
Harry D. Milligan Arriving in Great Britain in September of 1943, he was assigned to the 351st Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group. After completion of tour #1 in P-47 Thunderbolts, and a 30 day leave in the states, he returned to the ETO for a second tour in P-51 Mustangs.

Madge Rutherford Minton MADGE RUTHERFORD MINTON, born March 22,1920 in Greensburg, Indiana, won her wings in 1940 as the only woman member of the first Civilian Pilots' Training Program in Indiana, Butler University, Indianapolis. Ex-barnstormer Elvan Tarkington taught Madge to fly in a Rearwin 9000. Later Virgil Simmons taught her aerobatics in an open cockpit biplane Waco PT-14 and a bastard Fleet #1 with a #7 empennage.
Howard C. Mitchell The 57th had field modified their new Thunderbolts to fighter-bomber configuration in late 1943, and had pioneered the application of the P-47 as a fighter-bomber. The remarkable success of the P-47 during the first few months of "Operation Strangle" was a strong factor in the decision to convert major P-47 production to fighter-bombers.
Philip C. Mitchell PHILIP C. MITCHELL, born in New York, New York, on September 8, 1924. He was one of the last aviation cadets to enlist, signing up with the Army Air Force two days after all manpower was frozen, in December of 1942.......
Lester Moak On the 18th of April 1942 (co-incidentally the day of Gen. Doolittle's Tokyo raid), armed with parents' permission certificate, he went to 39 Whitehall St. in N.Y.C., volunteered for Army Air Corps pilot training, passed written and physical exams and was on his way. He preferred the Navy but did not have the required college credit and as it happened the Navy was successful in its mission without his services...
Stu Moak He wound up with 79 missions and stayed with-the squadron through the redeployment trip home, R and R and out to LaJunta, Colorado, where with the 358th, his 50th Group was to combine into a super group under then Col. Fred Gray, past association president also, to train in N's and go to Okinawa. The war ended before that could happen and he returned to civilian life.
