I am a life member of the P-47 THUNDERBOLT PILOTS ASSOCIATION and am very new on the internet. How pleasing it is to find this website. Hope to visit often. I flew 90 missions over Europe in the ’JUG’ and was in the 371st Fighter Group, 404th Squadron. Would love to hear from some of my old comrade-in-arms. With my son’s prompting, I recently took a renewed interest in WWII events and have even published a book containing mission summaries I kept in 1944/45. Hang in there!!!

Hi all. My uncle, Major Edward P. Fitzgerald was the operations officer for the 412Ftr.Sq. 373 Ftr.Gp. he was lost Sept.20 1944 if anybody knew him or might have some pictures or info about him, I sure would like to hear from you. For anyone who is interested if you want to send someone copies of those rare and irreplaceable photos, try your local Kinko’s or Office Depot, and have a COLOR Zerox copy made of your Black and White photo, sometimes they seem to come out better than the original. My father, Wilbur John Phillips, Jr. served as a pilot with the 10th FS, 50th FG, 9th AF from May 1944-Nov. 1944. Through traditional mail several years ago, contacted John Brown of Cincinnati, his flight leader,who provided wonderful pix and insight. I am trying to locate anyone with info about my dad, 1st Lt. David T.Zimms, who flew P47’s and P51’s over Germany and Eng land during WWII. He named his planes Stinky and Stinky 2 He died when I was 15 in 1966 and I have missed out on asking all those questions about his time in the war. If you know about him or know where I can begin to search for more infor- mation please contact me. He was out of New York , spring- field Gardens. I have a picture of him near his plane Stinky, with his Crew Chief Sgt. Snyder. Mom says he had to bail out twice, once over land, once over Sea. I am 25 and i am lucky enough to have seen and heard a P47 flying at an airshow and it was a great moment. It is very good to see such an associaion of pilots who did so well in flying this great airplane. Any perpetuation of history is a noble undertaking. With the new technologies available today, such as this website,a rare opportunity to bridge a space of 50+ years in the historical record is afforded. The importance of this documentation may not be entirely appreciated now, but for the future, the lessons and experiences of the past may be of inestimable value. Delighted to see your P-47 site. My cousin, the late Major George Preddy, top Mustang ace, also flew the Jug. He scored three aerial victories in the P-47, none in the P-40 while in Australia, and all the rest of his 27 aerial victories in the P-51. You have put together a great site. Congrats!!

Hi I am a member of the advocates group. Saw the WWW site in a mailing from the Advocates. Just love p-47, wish A&E,History, and Discovery Channels realize there was another fighter in WWII other than the Mustang. I hope to send a letter to The HIstory channel for their MOVIES IN TIME section C/O Sander Vanocker to run the movie Fighrt Squadron with Robert Stack , Edward O’Brien etc. I saw it when it first came out, and years ago i made a copy of TNT Channel. Nice to see a web site for the plane. I sold a drugstore in 1992 and another in 1995 along with my brother. I took some cash and had Anderson Model Co make me a model of Col Hub Zemke’s pP-47 with proper paint and labels--best $195.00 spent in a long time!! Regards
