My Dad is Fred Christensen (56thFG/62FS) he was really happy to know about this new website. I told him how really wonderful it was and he hopes that if anyone would want to contact him, they can do so through me! His only regret is that he has no access to a computer himself.

I JUST DISCOVERED THIS SITE, AND WOULD LIKE TO COMMENT ON ONE OF THE EVENTS THAT I WAS INVOLVED IN, NOT IN THE AIR BUT ON THE AIR- FIELD WHEN APPROX. 12 ME 109'S PASSED DIRECTLY OVER MY HEAD, ROUGHLY 200-400 FEET ABOVE ME. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY WERE THE ONLY ENEMY PLANES THAT I ENCOUNTERED EXCEPT FOR ONE DECOY WHILE ON AN ESCORT MISSION TO HAMBURGH. HE WAS ABOUT 1000 FEET AND WE WERE AT 24000 FEET.END OF STORY!!!

My father's name is John Coxe and he was a P47 piolet in the second world war. He has asked me to find out if there any members of his old air group still around. The group name was the 912 fighter control squadron , part of the 9th airforce. Based in England starting in 1942 then in France and Germany.

Bob Huddleston told me about this site. Delighted to see it and will be most happy to contribute a short bio on George Preddy who got his first three victories flying the Jug. He went on to become our top Mustang ace. Bob may be writng Preddy's bio, so I will wait until you get through the H's and the P's to see more about the format. Great job.

A great site, and cheering to see the effort to capture the great contributions P-47 pilots, crews and acft made to our military in WWII. Often wondered why USAF didn't make effort to employ P-47 in Korea. Were there truly too few left around at that time, or were there other reasons why?

Does anyone know the whereabouts of a P-47 pilot by the name of Melvin Pownall, Class 44G, who graduated from Mariana AFB, Florida? His hometown was Coatsville, PA just west of Philly, and he flew Jugs in the AF Reserves in PA after WWII.

Hello, I'm looking for info on P47 units of the 9ninth AF who were active in Germany between Koeln and Frankfurt am Main, on the morning of Oct.7th.1944. I'm busy with 412 Fight.Sq., trying to locate which ME109 and FW109 "Jagdgeschwadern" clashed with P47D's of 412 FS. My question: did any P47 unit of 9th. AF met with Luftwaffe units that day? If anybody could be of help to give some hints, directions...I would be very thankfull. Greetings from the Netherlands Frank Gruintjes

I saw a p-47 in flight at an airshow. What a fabulous shit-kicker of an airplane. The ground shook! I cannot imagine how it must have been to fly in one, let alone fight in it. Thanks for these reminders.

My grandfather, Tom or Thomas Vodenik was a pilot in the373rd, 410th, in europe during WWII and would be interested in speaking with anyone that knew him and/or flew with him. He does not have e-mail yet, but I usually call him as soon as I get anything for him.
