Nice site. My father was a mechanic on P47 in the U.S. and Europe starting in England in 1942 then in the Netherlands or Belgium. He was in the Thirty sixth fighter group from the start of the war till the end of the war he went back in for the Korean war and stayed till he retired in 1963. I took him to his last fighter group reunion in 1992. One of the pilots told me that dad developed a modification on the hydraulic system so that if pressure on the system was lost instead of going to nutral pitch as it was designed it would go to full pitch so they could get more distance before bailing out they said it was adopted air force wide. My fathers name was K.O. Myer if any one might have known him I would like to here about him. Thank you Bernard Myer

Nice site here.
My Dad, Carey James Land, flew the P-47D and N. I don't know what organization he was with, but they trained up on the east coast, at Dover, Delaware, I think, and were on the west coast awaiting shipping to Ie Shima when the war ended. They were to fly the N models.
Dad went on to a career in the USAF, flying B-26's in Korea, was the Commander of the 87th FIS (F-101B) in the mid 60's, and retired after service in Viet-Nam.
Dad passed away last year. He is survived by his third wife and us three kids. Dad and I talked often and at length about his flying days, and I assure all here that the Jug was the plane he loved best. Nothing, in his book, took the place of those extra .50's, R2800, and a plane that would get you home.

The Walnut Ridge Army Air Field (AAFBFS) Reunion will be held the week-end of April 8, 2006. BT-13 rides will be available again this year. The Walnut Ridge Army Flying School Museum's new building will be open for inspection, although it will not be completely finished.

I was disappointed to hear that you are not going to have any more reunions. I hope you don't plan on disbanding the association.
I was privilaged to help you with the reunion you had in CT a couple of years before and was able to play the music you listened and danced to when you were flying the jugs.

After a long absence I am back with e-mail. I'd like to extend a hearty Happy New Year to all the new friends I made over the past year. It was not such a good year in general but was mighty good to me. I'd be glad to hear from anyone, especially Jug Jocks and other fighter types though six years in the BUF brought in some B-52 types, too. All are welcome. There's no talk better than combat flying talk.

Steve-----"Thoroughbred" was WZ--E 42-26590 of the 84th FS / 78th FG at Duxford UK. The pilot was 2/Lt. Lawton.E. Clark ; he was killed in it Sept. 10 1944 when he flew into the target when strafing a marshalling yard at Heilbronn, Germany. It was thought that he had a depth perception problem as he had already flown into a couple of trees which he had marked on the plane with his missions. 226590 was delivered in natural metal finish and had dark green top surfaces added with a sky colour below (probably RAF colours). I am interested in finding anyone (or relatives of anyone) who served with my grandfather, First Lieutenant Bryant L. Cramer, in the 514th Fighter Squadron, 406th Fighter Group, shot down over Germany on August 7, 1944. Bryant was apparently the unofficial barber of the group and went by the nickname "Cashy". Any information would be appreciated by his only daugher, my mother, who was born right after his death. Thank you!
