Looking for my father, Joseph L Branley (msg id: 2099)
My husband and I recently watched a wonderful documentary on the Millville Aviation Museum and the P47 pilots which led us to this site. My husband, Joseph L Ballard has been searching for his father, a WWII fighter pilot from Pennsyvania, (possibly Philadelphia) who was stationed at Alo (Aloe) Field, Victoria, TX in 1945 - 1946. Joseph L Ballard, b.4/22/46, mother Patti Falcon. Thank you for any information. Trinity3inone@yahoo.com or jbcarburetors@jbcarburetors.com

1st Lt. Charles R. Earls (msg id: 2097)
Bob,
Lt. Earls was a pilot in the 395th Fighter Squadron, 368th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force. There is an excellent website dedicated to the group at http://www.368thfightergroup.com. Your uncle is listed on the Fallen Brothers page. Also, author Timothy Grace just released a book on the subject and it has references to your uncle.
Best of luck on your quest.

Friend of a JUG pilot (msg id: 2094)
I am looking for anyone that flew with Col. Dan Hickey during the last part of WWII. He has told me that he flew out of France. I believe it was with the 9th Air Force, 50th FG, 81st FS but I may have that wrong. Please contact me if you knew the Col.

P-47s on bottom of Union lake in Millville, NJ (msg id: 2093)
Has anyone heard that after WW2 the P-47's based at Millville Army Airfield were discarded in Union Lake near Millville NJ?

James W. "Bill" Thompson, P-47 Pilot (msg id: 2092)
In memoriam, my dad died in November, 2002.
Flight instructor for P-47s in Richmond, VA.
Flew out of Tinean in the Pacific late in the war.
Was there when Enola Gay was practicing.
Crashed off end of a cliff runway when engine quit.
Dropped his ordinance on runway, went over the cliff, and broke his back and legs. Fellow South Carolinian pulled him from the ocean and saved his life! Met Dr. Cary Middlecoff (pro golfer) in Augusta VA hospital who encouraged him to continue with golf when he got completely well. He said the Mustang was great, but if you wanted to come home you'd better strap on a P-47 !!

Dad worked on P-47s; ordnanceman (msg id: 2091)
My dad, Wayne B. Willis, was an ordnanceman with a P-47 Squadron which followed Patton to Germany, and I remember from his copy of the unit diary he had that the squadron (or maybe the Group?) was at Reims and spent time at a Luftwaffe field (probably inGermany) which had been a Me 262 field -- lots of neat photos of the jets that I drooled over when I was a kid. Dad died in '82 and we'd been estranged for over ten years by that time, and I never was able to get specifics from him and am trying to learn which squadron and Group he was with. Any help will be appreciated. Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy this site a lot. Love it.

Hello, I am working on the Documentary project, about Mr. Alexander Kartveli, The designer of P-47. Since his life was classified, it's really difficult to obtain any information. Anything could be valuable for me. Please let me know if you have some information or know some one who does.

Thank you
