404th Fighter Squadron (msg id: 2120)
I am the Operations Officer of an F-16 Squadron, the 186th of the Montana AIr Guard. USAF records show that our lineage derives from the 404th FS, 371st FG. I'm trying to create a squadron history display, and I'd like very much to gather information on the 404th, especially to make contact with former members and/or their descendants. Any help would be appreciated.

Lt. Col. Orville A. Kinkade (msg id: 2117)
It's with great sadness that I report the passing one of your finest: Lt. Col Orville A. Kinkade. He died 12/13/07 in Spokane, Wa., survived by wife Arlene and 5 children: Andre, Judy, Shirley, Barbara and Robert. Col Kinkade had a remarkable military career: P 47 pilot in European Theatre with multiple confirmed enemy kills, POW in Germany after being shot down in Rhine Delta (Belgium), Night jets in Korea, NATO and more.

Lt Joseph Edward WILKINSON (msg id: 2116)
Hello,
I seek information concerning the P-47 serial 42-26040, 2N-H of Lt Joseph Edward WILKINSON, 50th FG, 81st FS, which was killed in France in June 1944.
We will organize a ceremony in memory of this pilot killed for the freedom of my country and I wish to make a painting of his P-47.
Do you have a photograph of P-47 of Wilkinson with his nose art "Katherine" and showing this P-47 with or without olive drab.
I infinitely thank you for your assistance.
Christian (from Orleans in France)

Col. Neel E. Kearby, MOH (msg id: 2115)
I would be interested in making contact with anyone who may have known my paternal grandfather, Col. Neel Ernest Kearby. He flew his P-47, Fiery Ginger-named for my grandmother Virginia, with the 348th FG in the SWPA. This is a nice account of this FG written by John Stanaway named "Kearby's Thunderbolts." It is available on Amazon.com if anybody is interested-my copy is not for sale! ha, ha

I realize this request is a longshot as my grandfather would be 100 years old next year if he were alive so the likelihood of anybody that flew with him being still alive is remote. Thank you to all former and current military that have defended our country and freedoms.

Last Flight of P-47 Triple Ace (msg id: 2113)
Robert D. (Johnny) Johnston, 87, an Air Force colonel with a legendary combat record as a P-47 fighter pilot in World War II, passed away, Friday, August 17, 2007, in Panama City Beach, FL, after an extended illness.

A native Californian, he entered aviation cadet training in July, 1941, graduating with Class 42-B. As a highly-decorated P-47 fighter pilot assigned to the 50th Fighter Group in Europe during World War II, he commanded the 81st Fighter Squadron and destroyed 18 enemy aircraft, earning triple ace status. For his combat valor, General Carl “Tooey” Spaatz awarded Colonel Johnston the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation’s second highest award, in addition to his Distinguished Flying Cross, 18 Air Medals, and French Croix de Guerre with gold star. In 1945, the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA, honored their native son by enshrining his pilot wings on the Famous Flyers’ Wall alongside those of General Hap Arnold, Amelia Earhart, General James Doolittle, and other luminary pilots.

Maggiezass (msg id: 2112)
My father was Lt. Barton P. Christopher and he flew a P47 with the 404/506th. Maggiezass was the name of one of his planes. I have his footlocker containing all his military memorabilia, medals, maps, flight logs etc. My Dad passed away when I was 6 years old in 1960. Is there anyone in this organization that knew my Dad? If so I would love to hear from you.

Aikens Vance Smith (msg id: 2109)
I am interested to hear from anyone who served with or knew of 1st Lt. Aikens Vance Smith, 66th Squadron, 57th Fighter Group. He was killed 29 April 1945, over Italy, when he bailed out and never attempted to open his parachute, possibly having struck the wing and was knocked unconscious or killed instantly. I would love to learn more about the types of missions he flew over Italy.

P-51D "LUCIFER Jr" Tuskegge Airmen (msg id: 2105)
Hello

I am building a 1/10 scale RC of a P-51D..I am looking for info on a plane with the name of "LUCIFER Jr" . It belonged to someone with the Tuskegee Airmen. Just looking at some of the pilots name I'm going to take a guess that this plane belonged to Luther Smith Jr...this is just a guess. The plane carries of the 302th Fighter Sqn, I think..it is the one with the red devil with the fork on a blue background.

What I need to know is the planes tail number and any info on this plane, photo would be great as well. Also any info on the pilot...

Thanks

Help Needed (msg id: 2104)
My first cousin, Joe Lloyd Green from Charleston, W. Va. was stationed in the UK. As a P-47 pilot, he flew 103 missions over Germany. At one point, his plane was so badly shot up that he barely made it back to the English coast before crashing. He recovered and was re-assigned as a flight instructor somewhere in the South (USA). While taking off with a student, another plane lost power and crashed into his plane killing both of them. I was quite young at the time but now would like to find out more details about his service record. Does anyone know how I might obtain this information?

Looking for my father, Joseph L Branley (msg id: 2099)
My husband and I recently watched a wonderful documentary on the Millville Aviation Museum and the P47 pilots which led us to this site. My husband, Joseph L Ballard has been searching for his father, a WWII fighter pilot from Pennsyvania, (possibly Philadelphia) who was stationed at Alo (Aloe) Field, Victoria, TX in 1945 - 1946. Joseph L Ballard, b.4/22/46, mother Patti Falcon. Thank you for any information. Trinity3inone@yahoo.com or jbcarburetors@jbcarburetors.com

1st Lt. Charles R. Earls (msg id: 2097)
Bob,
Lt. Earls was a pilot in the 395th Fighter Squadron, 368th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force. There is an excellent website dedicated to the group at http://www.368thfightergroup.com. Your uncle is listed on the Fallen Brothers page. Also, author Timothy Grace just released a book on the subject and it has references to your uncle.
Best of luck on your quest.
