Ed Roth was a P47 Pilot over th skies of Germany during WWII. With news this past week that Ed may not be with us much longer; I'm hoping someone has information regarding the Sq he was assigned to. Unfortunately his family does not know this and are very interested to in finding this out. I believe he named his aircraft "Midnight Mel" (not sure of the spelling) Ed grew up in Buffalo NY and currently resides in Moorestown NJ. If you have any information on him please respond. Hello. I would like to know if anyone remembers, or has any infomation, about a P-47 pilot named Warren G. Myers who hailed from Mount Carmel, PA. He crashed in Germany on March 18, 1945, and is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium. The plane's serial number was 42-28443. That's the only information I have. Would anyone know where I would locate a wartime photo of this pilot? Many thanks for any additional information.

I am writing in regards to my uncle Earl and am wondering if any of you P-47 pilots still around remember or knew of him??? He was from Corsica, SD and made it to 1st Lt when he got out of the service. He passed away a number of years ago and we can't find any of his records because the buiding they were stored in burned down.

early in 1943,late 1942 my father recieved orders to take 75 p-40L's from bolling field in washington,d.c board them on cv-4 "ranger" move to coast of north africa and fly them off the carrier ranger cv-4 into the airfield at casablanca. the p-40L's were exchanged with the 33rd fighter groups p-40's. anyone know what fighter squadron he was with at bolling field that had the p-40L's? please cotact me. thanks,h.whiteman.

fighter tactics center- morocco mto ww2 (msg id: 2142)
my father was assigned to the "fighter tactics center" which operated from early 1943 (if not before) from two airfields south of casablanca. the airfields were berrechid I and berrechid II. they flew a mark of spitfires,curtis p-40's, lockheed p-38's and bell p-39's . they also had at least one north american t-6 texan. if anyone has any information on this unit,please contact me at : whiteman.83@worldnet.att.net. thank you in advance, h.whiteman.

My 27th mission (msg id: 2141)
I was a member of the 494th fighter squadron 48th fighter group and was shot down on my 27th mission over Germany while after an Me 109. I had to bail out and landed in a tree. I was on my own from about 11 that morning until I ran into a German party the next evening about 9 O'clock. I was within range of our artillary when captured. I was released at the end of the war.

Is the name Herbert Reiner known by anyone (msg id: 2140)
2nd Lt Herbert Reiner was a pilot in the 53rd Fighter Sqdn, 36th Fighter Sqdn, and shot down over Normandy on August 13th, 1944. I am his cousin and interested in what planes were flown by him. I would appreciate any information anyone might have if any.

Hello!
I am trying to find as much info that I can regarding Bob Brulle's P-47 Razorback, as flown during the battle of Y-29, and depicted on the TV show. "Dogfights - Death of the Luftwaffe". He was assigned to the 390th FS, and flew B2H.

8th AAF Fighter Station, England (msg id: 2138)
My father, then Lt. Harold F. Beck (Ret. Lt. Col. after 23 years in AF Reserve) flew 76 missions as a fighter pilot in the P-47 Thunderbolt in WWII. Dad is very much alive, at age 90, living in Berwick, PA. Dad remembers lots of details about his 76 missions, especially the one where his plane was was shot up with no less than 20 m.m. cannon holes, no radio, airspeed indicator, hydraulic system and cylinder head--all completely useless--and yet he landed the pland safely. We have scrapbooks of photos and newspaper articles about my father's career. Dad retired in 1973. Mom and Dad did make the trip to England for the opening of the museum. He lives in their home with wife, Elsie June, also age 90. Has 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Looking for anyone who remembers the events surrounding the flight and fatal crash of Benton E. "Benny" Miller over Neubiberg, Germany, October 9, 1947.

My father Harold Friedman passed away Dec 25, 2007, at the age of 88, he worked in flight test on every experimental aircraft built by Republic Aviation from 1940 starting on P-35's until they closed the doors in the mid 1960's
I have the only existing picture of a XP-47F being put together at the Republic plant with my dad standing under it dated June 25 1942. He was an aviation pioneer and will be missed.

I am the Operations Officer of an F-16 Squadron, the 186th of the Montana AIr Guard. USAF records show that our lineage derives from the 404th FS, 371st FG. I'm trying to create a squadron history display, and I'd like very much to gather information on the 404th, especially to make contact with former members and/or their descendants. P47 crash on March 16th, 1945 between Mannheim and Karlsruhe. (Germany) (msg id: 2125)
Could anybody give me any information about a P47 pilot, who crashed with his P47 on March 16th, 1945 between Mannheim and Karlsruhe?
The P47 was hit by flak and crashed into the woods near the city of Eberbach.
Has anybody information about this pilot or who knows a pilot who is missing since March 16th, 1945?

Robert Manning, 413th FG, 21st Fighter Squadron, le Shima (msg id: 2121)
My uncle Robert Manning, flew P-47N aircraft in the 413th FG, 21st Fighter Squadron, from the Island of le Shima off the coast of Okinawa in 1945 boming the Island of Hokkaido, Japan. His comander was Harry Thyng an ACE. My Uncle Bob said the flight from le Shima to Hokkaido was so long that he got cramps in his butt!
Robert Manning presently lives in New York state with his wife Barbara.
