Red Gormly (msg id: 2482)
Does anyone have info on Staff Sergeant "Red" Gormly, crew chief in the 411th Fighter Squadron, 373rd FG? He was my dad's crew chief and appears in several photos from my dad's WWII photo album. I'm wriiting a history of my dad's service, and Red obviously was a key person during that experience. I'd like to do a writeup about Red to inlcude in my document.

My dad (msg id: 2473)
My dad was Talmadge L. Ambrose. He flew in the 373rd Ftr. Group. He passed in 1999. I took him to several reunions where I was priviledged to meet many of his buddies. What a special group of men who honored our country with your service. I have special memories of you and my dad. Anyone still out there from this group -- would love to hear about you! My mom, Dorothy is still living at 88. Regards, Tal's daughter, Drue

36th Fighter Group armorer (msg id: 2455)
My Dad (Sgt. John F. Stringer) was an armorer with 53rd FS, 36th FG, 19th TAC in Normandy to Kassel, Germany. We boys were able to get him talking about his time in the war. Unfortunately he passed before I became aware of the wonderful Internet resources relating to that era. Would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of that or similar Groups.

re: Bob St. Vincent work (msg id: 2446)
Hi Ben:
Bob was a good friend of mine, and yes he did many paintings of P-47's for P-47 Pilots Assoc. members. I think the one he did for John Kelly was the last one he did before he passed away. I remember that we took it to the 2001 P-47 Pilots Assoc. reunion that took place in San Diego - it would not fit in the back of Bob's car but it fit very nicely in the back of my pickup truck. It was on display at the reunion all of the days we were there. If you are interested in seeing other examples of Bob's work, visit the 57th FG and 368th FG websites.
I am fortunate enough to have prints of three of Bob's paintings, so I am always reminded of him - he was a great friend.

St. Vincent Artwork (msg id: 2438)
Hi Ben,
If you posted your painting on the 507th FG forum of the Army Air Forces website I'm sure you'd get some reaction, and perhaps more info on Kelley, his squadron and even St. Vincent.
http://forum.armyairforces.com/507th-FG-f292.aspx
Sounds like a wonderful piece, and thanks for sharing. The P-47's role in the Pacific is not as well documented but it played a significant role.
