My grandfather,John Jack Kennedy, flew with the 366FG 390FS from Y-29 in Belgium from approximately Nov.1944-Apr.45. I finally saw my first P-47 in person last weekend down at the Confederate Air Force show in Miland. While the paint scheme left something be desired it was overpowering to see and touch one. If anyone has information on the colors of the squadron it would be greatly appreciated. I’m begining to build another model and would like to paint it as close to the colors as possible. Thanks to all the ’Jug’ pilots out there. You guy’s fly the best fighter-bomber of all time in my mind and I’m proud to say my grandfather was on of them. God Bless

Really appreciate the site. I am seeking info about my dad,Capt. Clement F. Burr. He flew with the Chekertail Clan, the 325 fighter group or any info about the 317,318,319 fighter squadrons. His plane was ’Stout Burbon’. Later he flew a ’stang but his love was for the ’tub’. Thanks.

I recently acquired a USAAF gun camera, model n-6. It’s in good shape and I’d like to check the operation out. Does anyone know the voltage it uses? I thinks it’s 400-cycle AC from the aircraft inverter, but is it 115 volts? Or is it 28 volts DC? Thanks for the info. Dave, K4AKT, MSgt, USAF, Ret.

I am currently putting together a web site dedicated to the 368th FG. If anyone would like to e-mail photos or anything, I would be glad to include them. I currently have a large selection of items, mostly 395th ’Panzer Dusters’.

The Thunderbolt will live forever. My Dad flew with Zemke’s Wolfpack (61st Squadron), and I had the privilege of growing up with Gabreski at the dinner table, and too many others to name, here. I’m proud that so many people are interested in Thunderbolts. Thanks for publishing this website. I’ll be back for more.

This has been one of the nicest visits to a website I have ever had. My Dad was a P47 pilot, I have always been so proud of him and the job he did, thank you for taking the time to put all of this information together, so we and future generations have something to treasure.

I am currently researching the 8th AF mission of May 28, 1944. My draft manuscript is almost complete now and at this moment I am trying to fill in some major gaps in it. In this regard I am especially looking for pictures of Lts Philip H. Hazelett and William S. Orvis of the 78th Fighter Group, 82nd Fighter Squadron who both were shot down by light flak while strafing and who both were killed. Anybody with a picture or information on either one or both of these pilots, please E-mail me. Your help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Ivo de Jong (Ruijsstraat 8, 6712 ED Ede, The Netherlands)

I accessed the P47 site to get the dates for the re-union in Savannah. My dad, Lt. Col. Sandy Ross (Ret.), a P47 Pilot living in California, will be attending, and from there he hopefully will be able to come down to Florida for his youngest grandson’s Bar Mitzvah. I’m very proud of my Dad and all of the P47 Pilots. I salute you and give honor to whom honor is due. God bless you.

Seeking any information from P-47 pilots out there regarding Capt. Don P. Kerns, Aviation Cadet Class 42-K, Cimarron Field Oklahoma, and later a 62 combat mission veteran flying the ’Dallas Blonde’ with the 319th FS of the 325th Fighter Group - the Checkertail Clan. Any information provided will be most sincerely appreciated and helpful in my research on this pilot.

Just returned from the funeral of my wife’s grandfather - Lt. Col. Charles T. Ryan of Jeffersonville, IN - who sadly and unexpectedly passed away this week. He was a P47 pilot in, I believe, the 362nd flying ground support for (again, I believe) Patton’s army. He truly was a great man and I very much regret not asking more questions about his USAAF experiences. One story that sticks out - maybe someone will remember it - is when he was stateside flying in New Jersey and ran into the NJ State Police radio tower head-on with his P47....he hit it square and did very little damage to the plane! If anyone knows of ’Charlie’, please drop me a line....he was a great person who truly would (and did) do anything for his country and his family.

My Dad flew a P-47 In WWII. I am trying to figure out his squad, etc. just to begin my search of his war history, buddies, etc. I have located a card which lists him as: ’H’ Sqdn 123 AAF BU. And, have a picture of him standing outside a building marked, ’379th Officers’. Am hoping someone might point me in the right direction where I should look...or the piece of paper I should be looking for that would have the right info to begin my search. Would be most grateful for any assistance. Thanks! CC

My father (Calvin Holloway) was a member of the 391st fighter squadron, 366th fighter group during WWII. I am trying to find survivors of that group. He is particularly interested in finding John Wesley Rankin of Grays Landing, Pennsylvania and Perry Justice of Waycross, Georgia. If you have any information about this group, please contact me. Thank you.
