I do research on crashed airplane during WWII in the Westerwald area, located 60 mls north of Frankfurt/Main.
In one case I try to locate 2nd Lt Herbert Carr Jr of 36FG, 53FS. He crashed october 7th 1944 and was a POW.
I also try to get a clear view on seven P-47 crashes is March 1945 in my home county. Any help would be great.

I fly a sim and favor the P-47 over any other plane because of it's energy, high speed handling and armament.

I was adopted in 1942 and last year learned of my father Capt. Lee Willis of the 9th Air Force 10th FG, 50th FS, one of your fellow P47 Association Members. His plane was named (AKSARBEN) Nebraska spelled backwards and his group called him Pappy. His brother, Gerald (Dale) Rose, whom some of you know from reviewing video of your San Antonio Reunion, has provided me with information regarding fathers service years and I have meet a half brother in Denver who also has provided additional information. I would like to hear from any of you who may have known my father. I can be reached at Larry D. Kness, 3841 East 12st Avenue, Thornton, Colorado 80241, or Email rmevambulanc@rmi.net or phone 303-254-9854.
I had planed on coming to this years Reunion but am unable. Please let everyone know of my inquires and God Bless you all.

My father, Fred Christensen, has asked me to send out a request. Does anyone know where I can get a small lapel pin of a P-47 razorback? He lost everything he owned in a fire and we are trying to replace all the things that were dear to him. Thanks for your help.

I am truly honored to be able to ask a question in this website. Does anyone know anything about the Pre-heater which went under the shell near the engine, to help warm up the p47 Thunderbolt faster for take off? My father worked on that project, and I sure would like to speak with someone who knows anything about it, anything at all. Thank you, and God bless you all.

I am a member of the P-47 pilots association. I flew 113 combat missions in Italy 1944-45, with the 57th Fighter Group, 64th Fighter Squadron. I would like to hear from any who graduated in class 44-C, Craig Field, Selma AL. Although most of the responses on this page are from those who flew out of England, it still brings back fond memoiries of a great airlpane and, a greater group of guys who flew and serviced them!

Great! My dad flew P-47s out of Steeple Morton during world war two. He changed aircrft to the P-51, but the P-47 was his real love. He would love to hear from anyone stationed there, expecially those in the Angels squadron. E-mail me and I will forward it.

I have been a big Jug fan since I was a
boy during WW2. I watched Bob Johnson of the 56thFG fly over my house in 1944 and one of my fondest memories is of
meeting Francis Gabreski and his autographed book is a prized possession
of mine. Long live the memory of of one of the greatest airplanes ever.
